Our Doctors

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Parley Fillmore has provided comprehensive eye care for Southern New Mexico since August 2009. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. He then completed his M.D. and Ph.D in Pathobiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also received his certificate of Business Administration while in Illinois. Dr. Fillmore completed his internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, IN and his Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa.

He has been the recipient of many honors and awards, and has presented his work at national and international conferences. He has published many articles in scientific, peer-reviewed journals, including his most recent work on lamellar corneal transplantation.

Dr. Fillmore and his wife, Amy, have nine children, and enjoy living in Southern New Mexico. He is available for appointments in Alamogordo, Las Cruces, Deming and T or C.

Certified by the New Mexico Board of Optometry, Dr. Bryce S. Johnson received his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University. He graduated with honors from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. During his professional education, Dr. Johnson provided medical eye care to patients in western Tennessee at The Eye Center, Memphis Family Vision, and Hughes Eye Group. Dr. Johnson rendered professional services to patients in rural areas of the southeastern United States through Remote Area Medical and in Oaxaca, Mexico, through the organization One Sight.

His areas of interest include ocular disease, routine eye care, and contact lenses. Dr. Johnson specializes in managing ocular conditions such as cataracts, diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, infections, age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), corneal injuries, and dry eye syndrome. He focuses on patient education that is easy to understand, both in English and Spanish. Dr. Johnson believes you can live well if you see well.

Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Optometric Association, the New Mexico Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society. He resides in Las Cruces with his wonderful wife and son. He enjoys playing the piano, games, and spending time with family and friends.

Certified by the New Mexico Board of Optometry, Dr. Jacob Bailey received his undergraduate degree with highest honors in Human Health studies from Arizona State University. He also graduated with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry. After graduation, he served in the Air Force at Dyess AFB in Abilene Texas. He practiced as the sole doctor providing eye care to active duty and retired military members. He also sat on the Executive Board for Dyess AFB Medical Group and served as the Medical Group Chief for the Emergency Operations Center working closely with community hospital leaders.

Dr. Bailey is passionate about providing the highest level of comprehensive eye care to all patients. He is a general practice optometrist that provides for the visual and ocular care for all ages. He loves working with patients who have healthy eyes and people that have been diagnosed with disease to help maximize their ocular health and vision.

Dr. Bailey is excited to serve the people of Southern New Mexico. He resides in Alamogordo with his wife and three children. He enjoys coaching and playing all sports, and spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. Dr. Bailey is available to see patients in Alamogordo and Ruidoso.

Certified by the New Mexico Board of Optometry, Dr. Elizabeth A. Dosch received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from New Mexico State University. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. During her training she was the recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award for exceptional patient care, and she was selected for membership into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for outstanding leadership and service to her class and the profession.

She has had the opportunity to participate in and present research at multiple conferences. Dr. Dosch is also grateful for the opportunity to have served on international mission trips to Panama and Guatemala where she provided comprehensive eye exams and glasses to hundreds of patients.

Her areas of interest include ocular disease and contact lenses. Dr. Dosch is passionate about providing care to those with diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye and other eye diseases. Her goal is to ensure patients understand their eye condition, and she is dedicated to educating people with regards to their health and its effects on their eyes.

Dr. Dosch is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as the New Mexico Optometric Association. She resides in Las Cruces with her husband and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking in the beautiful mountains and spending time with family. She is excited to provide eye care in southern New Mexico and is available for appointments in Las Cruces, Truth or Consequences, and Alamogordo.

nicholas-spendlove
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Nicholas Spendlove received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at Brigham Young University. He then graduated from Medical School at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Following graduation, he completed an internship at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA where he received the Resident of the Year Award. He then completed an ophthalmology residency with the highest board score at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.
Dr. Spendlove is passionate about providing exceptional eye care with compassion and medical/surgical competence. He is thrilled to be able to take care of patients in southern New Mexico and is available for appointments in Alamogordo, Las Cruces, and Artesia.
Dr. Spendlove enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, particularly doing things outdoors such as hiking and camping.

Certified by the New Mexico Board of Optometry, Dr. Melissa K. Woodard completed her undergraduate education at New Mexico Military Institute and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Upon graduation from Northeastern State University (Oklahoma) College of Optometry, she was awarded the Golden Retinoscope Award for being the top senior clinician in her class. While attending NSUCO, she was commissioned in the U.S. Army and awarded a scholarship through the Health Professions Scholarship Program.

After graduation, she served as a Staff Optometrist at Reynolds Army Community Hospital in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and later as Chief Optometrist at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. During her time in the Army, Dr. Woodard provided comprehensive eye care services to active-duty soldiers, their families, retirees, and civilian Korean employees.

Upon completion of her military service, Dr. Woodard practiced full-scope optometry in southern New Mexico before joining Fillmore Eye Clinic in July 2023. Her primary interests in optometry include diagnosing and treating ocular disease, particularly glaucoma, anterior surface disease, cataracts, and macular degeneration, as well as managing ocular complications of systemic diseases such as diabetes and autoimmune disorders.

Dr. Woodard is a fourth-generation New Mexican and lives in Silver City. She participates in equestrian activities and competes in agility with her Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She is also an active member of the local kennel club.

Dr. Angela Morgan has been proudly serving the eye care needs of New Mexicans for twenty years. She graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she developed a passion for providing exceptional eye care to patients of all ages.

DrMorgan specializes in fitting specialty contact lenses, including rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, scleral lenses, and hybrid lenses, helping patients with complex vision needs. She is also experienced in diagnosing and managing dry eye disease, ensuring patients have a comfortable and clear vision experience.

As a past president of the New Mexico Optometric Association, DrMorgan is a respected leader in the field and continues to contribute to the advancement of optometry in the state. She believes in the importance of truly listening to her patients and making sure they feel heard and validated throughout their care journey.

When not in the office, DrMorgan enjoys reading, traveling, and has aspirations of obtaining her scuba certification in the near future. She takes great pride in helping patients see the world more clearly and is always excited to meet new people and improve their quality of life through better vision.
